abstract

  • This ethnographic research, carried out in San Francisco, Cundinamarca; is focused on analyzing how the experiences of people who have migrated to rural areas of San Francisco have been shaped by their trajectory and their position in the social space. I consider that the arrival of the vinculados, a concept used to name the city-countryside migrants, to rural areas brings important changes that generate tensions over the use, possession and care of the spaces, both public and private, of the municipality. These tensions are related to the existence of social borders that can hardly be crossed between migrants and the receiving society. In this sense, this degree work aims to contribute to a better understanding of the city-countryside migration processes, focusing on the perspective of these migrants and not from the receiving society. For this reason, the tensions that may exist between the vinculados and the locals will be addressed from the perspective of the former. Taking their migratory experiences seriously, I will try to highlight the complexities involved in settling in a rural space.
