This research study focuses on extreme physical activity practices, where human possibilities are at the limit, through the experience of people who perform one of these activities known as mountaineering in Colombia. The objective of the work was to analyze the meanings of risk configured by a group of Colombian climbers. To achieve this objective, the way in which the notion of risk is configured in the experiences of Colombian extreme climbers is first identified. From these elements, the way in which, from the experience and motivations of the climber, the meaning of the activity is constructed will be described.
