  • Leadership has been defined in different ways by hundreds of authors due to the context in which this concept is studied. None of these definitions is wrong but some have taken more importance due to different factors that society faces. For some years countries have opened up to different markets, which have allowed them to eliminate political, economic and cultural barriers. This has led leaders to evaluate the new way of managing organizations. This is just one of the multiple examples that have led to modify the leadership concept, adding new challenges that leaders face. This degree work studies the most important challenge of the XX and XXI centuries: globalization. This phenomenon has brought near the world through exchange of information, goods, services, knowledge and culture. It has been achieved due to new technologies, new communication and transport services, science and industry advances. Nowadays leadership has to be studied in a global way. One of the biggest challenges of the new leader is to break the national barrier and to open to international markets. To achieve this challenge, leaders have to have certain features that allow them to understand not only different markets but also different people. This degree work identifies the main features of a global leader which are the result of investigations of different writers and studies.
