abstract

  • The pandemic produced as a result of the Covid-19 virus during the year 2020, generated a series of changes in the way in which human beings lived our mundane reality. Having been accustomed to a lifestyle mostly outside the home, where we made use of direct contact with society to work and interact with others, the pandemic came as a reality check to remind us that nature is the real protagonist of our story. This work analyzes and collects information related to the way in which our human condition, understood through the philosophy of Hannah Arendt, was modified throughout this process of mandatory confinement, largely due to the use of ICTs. It is not only necessary for this essay to understand what could happen to us as humans during the quarantine period, but also to create a warning voice about what this change means for the future of humanity as a species and planet earth. This analysis looking towards the future, accompanied by several authors who denote the same concern, shows and analyzes the different ethical implications that the excessive use of ICTs can bring to our human condition, in order to prevent a series of social, cultural and environmental problems which are plausible if we continue on the same course that we are currently taking.
