abstract

  • IntroductionLow back pain is a disorder of skeletal muscle that affects the lower back, considered a public health problem and listed as a disaster in the workplace, is in the top 10 causes of occupational disease reported by the entities providing health services, generating absenteeism and work disability in industrialized countries, with costs ranging from 20 thousand to 98 million dollars in the United States. ObjectiveTo determine the prevalence of lumbar pathologies qualified and associated occupational factors in a health promoter Bogotá Colombia during 2013 to 2014. Methodology a study of cross section with secondary data belonging to 318 patients a promoter of health in the city of Bogota who were diagnosed with lumbar pathologies (LBP-lumbago, lumbar disc disease, intervertebral disc disorder, spondylolisthesis, spondylolysis, disc herniation was performed ), and sent to labor medicine or qualification of origin they applied first opportunity, in the period from 2013 to 2014. The variables included were sociodemographic, occupational and medical diagnostics, specifically lumbar pathologies. frequency distributions, measures of central tendency and dispersion, association analysis by Pearson Chi-square test and multivariate analysis through binary logistic regression model and concordance analysis using Kappa index was performed. a significance level of 0. 05 was used for testing. It was typed and debugged in SPSS version 23. ResultTotal users diagnosed with lumbar pathologies was 318 out of which 57. 2% were male with an average age of 43 years (d. e. 7. 9 years). significant association between low back pain and lumbar spine movements and lifting load (p < 0. 05) was found; lumbar disc disease and lumbar spine movements and multi-causal factors (p < 0. 05); intervertebral disc disorder and multi-causal factors (p < 0. 05), herniated disc and lifting loads (p < 0. 05). Regarding spondylolisthesis and spondylolysis no association with any risk factors was found, but significant association between origin and movements of the lumbar spine (p = 0. 010) was found, with sustained posture (p = 0. 014), with multifactorial causes (p = 0. 000 ). The degree of agreement between the promoter of health and occupational risk manager gave a value in the kappa index of 0. 432 (p = 0. 000) corresponding to a moderate degree of agreement; for the correlation between health promoter and the rating board kappa index was 0. 680 (p = 0. 000) higher degree of agreement. ConclusionLumbar pathologies have a high prevalence among the working population and the non-working, finding a large number of conditioning factors to these diseases causing high costs in days lost labor and sick days: Therefore, it is important to determine whether these are cataloged common origin or occupational origin, to establish monitoring programs epidemiology and prevention programs.
