abstract

  • A retrospective longitudinal observation study was conducted in a health services provider in Bogotá. A total of 150 patient´s medical records with Low Back Pain (LBP) were used from January 2014 to May 2016. These records were subjected to the inclusion criteria defined by the authors in order to identify the impact of treatment on the management of pain. A sample of 48 clinical reports was selected to implement the Friedman test. Additionally, under a simple random sampling of normal distribution, 25 cases were selected from the 48 previous clinical reports to apply an unstructured survey in order to obtain information about the status of the disease after the treatment finished. This study concluded that acupuncture therapy is effective in pain management of patients with Low Back Pain. More studies are necessary to support the inclusion of the therapy in the management of this condition.
