  • The reforms of the health sector and the lack of guidelines about human resources have generated a decrease of so important resources that converge in lost of authority regarding of public health in a territorial level. The public health laboratories –LSP are the prime source of information for the decision making on Public Health Surveillance. This studio presents the human talent´s attributes of the LSP and their direct relation with the development of their missional functions. Descriptive cross-sectional study based on self-filled out poll applied to the 33 LSP in Colombia in 2014. In the 33 LSP are 433 professionals for the surveillance in public health with 143 (33%) employee and 293 (67%) qualified worker with express contract, 24% (102) men and 76% (331) women. The 94% of the LSP counts with coordinators, of which 52% has exclusive functions. The 51% (17) of the LSP accomplish over the 92% the guidelines given for the physical–functional organization of the LSP. 7 LSP has 1 or less employee. The human resources is an essential factor to accomplish the mission of LSP and Colombia counts with 433 professionals in the 33 LSP, with an epidemiologist in the 82% and a quality leader in the 76% of the LSP. The 49% (16) of the LSP don´t accomplish with the Guide for the physical–functional organization of the LSP. 23 LSP counts with 4 or less employees in permanent staff, being this a vulnerability for the Colombia´s answer capacity against risk in public health.
