abstract

  • The interest of the present case study is to evaluate the impact of paramilitary influence in the results of legislative elections in 2002 and 2006 in Córdoba. So, it focuses in exploring how the paramilitary support, signed in Ralito and other agreements, is manifest in the election results. In order to do so, it summarizes the origins and development of paramilitarism in Cordoba and its relationship with political élites. An index of hegemony is constructed to point out the predominance of some candidates over half of the valid votes in any town. Besides, some maps are considered, elaborated with Pearson and Moran spatial autocorrelations. Finally, a typology is presented, in order to show the many kinds of paramilitary support in accordance with diverse politicians.
