  • This research article is focused on internal human displacement due to climate change - also understood as internally displaced due to climate change - and how the Colombian State has acted against this problem, evaluating how the phenomenon has been the object of state attention in Colombia from its regulation in the legal system and the actions of the State Entities for the protection of the human rights of this population in a situation of vulnerability due to climate variability. The objective is to evaluate the legal and institutional system against the climate displaced in Colombia from the case study of Hurricane Iota on the island of San Andrés. On the other hand, the methodology encompasses a quantitative and qualitative approach, through the collection of bibliographic information and data analysis . The conclusion raises the degree of recognition and protection from the investigative findings on recognition and protection in our legal system; the characterization of victims and their correlative assistance by the Colombian State in comparison with other types of displacement already recognized.
