abstract

  • This paper has a main objective that is to explain the process by which the French anatomoclinic medicine from the XVIII century arrives and consolidates in Chile during 1833 and 1843. In order to fulfill this objective this document is divided mainly in two sections. In the first one a deep study of the formation of anatomoclinic medicine in France in the XVIII century during the French Revolution is made. This allows us to understand that the configuration of this medicine goes hand in hand with the construction of the French Nation-State and, likewise, that this process characterizes by a change in the mindset of what disease is and the way the medical profession is viewed and understood. The second section is an analysis of how this medicine arrives to Chile and consolidates during a particular period of time in which medical education becomes institutionalized, a Nation-State is formed and, at the same time, several changes in the basis of medicine are shown.
