The main objective of this work is to make a theoretical review of the studies that have made an analysis of the emotional intelligence ability to cope with the situations that generate stress. Different studies show that high levels of emotional intelligence are related to coping strategies based on the analysis and resolution of conflicts, while low levels of emotional intelligence are related to coping strategies based on avoidance, superstition, and resistance to changes. The evidence of the different studies, indicate that emotional intelligence is essential in emotional self-control and ability of individuals to adapt to situation generated by stress.
