  • In this text I try to link the principle of duty of fair play enunciated by John Rawls to civic education . I consider that fair play brings significant to the construction of citizenship , such as autonomy and sense of justice elements. The development work is through a brief account about the school and its link with civic education in the Colombian context . Following this the genesis of the term competence is reviewed and then discussed critically citizenship skills model implemented by the Ministry of National Education of Colombia . It is concluded establishing a concordance between fair play and civic education, taking as a framework citizenship competences.
