abstract

  • Objective: The following research describes the organizational change during a digital transformation process in a technology company. Organizational change model: based on the literature analysis, 5 models were selected, which provide a starting point for selecting the organizational change model to be used in the research. As a result, the model proposed by Burke and Litwin (1992) in their study A causal model of organizational performance and change was selected. This model allows the structuring of change within the organization, based on human aspects -such as culture-, leadership and strategy. Considering that the technology company under study must undergo a process of change with these characteristics, the use of the model associated with the questions to be solved and the objectives to be met is proposed.Methodology: the demanding detail with which the object of study was to be analyzed and the complex relationship between it and the context, a case study was established as the design for our research, whose unit of analysis was a Colombian technology corporation. The study was based on an epistemological paradigm of interpretative type, in order to deepen the knowledge about the perspective experienced by the analyzed company. The research was carried out using the qualitative method, for which a structured interview was applied. The data were analyzed through the content analysis technique, from which the codes that structured the results emerged. Conclusions: (1) The implementation of Burke and Litwin's (1992) model made it possible to identify the weaknesses that existed in the company's strategy and mission, culture and leadership. This allowed the design and execution of a series of action plans that resulted in the benefit and total change of the organization. (2) The information obtained through the interviews during the study allowed us to have a detailed approximation of the state of the company before the change process. These contributions were fundamental for the understanding and design of the company's improvement plans.
