  • The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the influence of medical organizations in the development of health reforms in Colombia. This research work includes case-study-methods to bring the analysis of the events that occurred in 2013, when the government of President Juan Manuel Santos proposed a reform of the Colombian health system. To achieve an adequate analysis approach, this study uses theoretical sources of Pierre Bourdieu (Year) and John Kingdon (Year), which were used to understand the events that occurred between 2012 and 2014. Moreover, this study tested the hypothesis that explains the special role of medical organizations in that historical moment, emphasizing on the social actions made by medical professionals in the construction of public health policies. Finally, this research work is based on a qualitative approach which is supported by press releases of the Ministry of Health, documentary review, and interviews to main actors involved into this particular health reform.
