abstract

  • Along the text I pretend to show a case study of how gender can be understood in a more subtle way, by suggesting that there are alternative ways of seeing femininity and how a new way of being woman is built, starting from masculine elements. This is why this paper shows that existing variations of gender must be taken on account.Following this work line I would proceed in the first section to revise in what way the research was made, having on account the different phases in which it was made and the used techniques. Next, in the second part of the text I would do a review of the concept of gender, so I can explain what are masculinity and femininity, as well as masculine spaces. In the third section, we will see how is the Death Metal Scene in Bogota, what would be good as an introduction to talk about how gender is built in this space. In the fourth and fifth sections we will make an analysis of how men and women are in this scene, respectively. To make this explanation I would take on account the literature about gender and also the results found along the research, to determine how femininity is understood in Death Metal, so I can explain the way in which women from the scene build an alternative way of being woman. Finally, we would take up the main ideas of the text to establish that there is a particular way in which gender is built in this scene, finding that there are non-traditional ways of thinking oneself as woman.
