Sector analysis was realized between 2006 and 2011 with the financial statements of the three airlines with greater representation in the market. The work begins with the development of the aviation’s history in Colombia by a synthesis of the acts most representative of the sector, after that is necessary to make the sector’s analysis, starting with an analysis of overcrowding, from ROA and ROE indicators, then performed the analysis of the competitive landscape from interviews and surveys of people involved in the sector, then we made an analysis of market forces, an analysis of competitors and finally a joint analysis. In the second stage of the investigation we developed a prospective analysis of the air transport sector, which defines the most influential variables, qualifying its importance and its impact on the development of air transport sector and its impact on other sectors of national economy, after this, we proceeded to an analysis by sector’s actors more representative for further construction of hypotheses and a final evaluation of the possible scenarios.
