abstract

  • Canadas involvement in Afghanistan has become a priority in foreign policy that Canada’s government has set over the last years. Thus, the purpose of this research is to analyze that even if NATO set up the parameters of Canada in Afghanistan since 2003, it has followed the principles, standards and rules that frame the security regime (NATO), Canadas national interests as maintaining their relationship with the United States and building an international corporate image, were fundamentals for motivating this participation. This research is relevant because it analyzes, from the Canadian perspective, the construction of international security by means of stabilization and reconstruction of Afghanistan , which is not only one of the most crucial to do today, but one of the main objects of attention from governments, international public opinion, different think tanks and universities in the world. But, it becomes more significant and important if we consider that the Canadian perspective on international security has try to constitute a relatively logical alternative than the one imposed by the United States, a leader in this intervention.
