  • The goal of this monograph is to analyze the implications and meanings of the gender transitioning processes for the trans women linked to the Fundación Grupo de Acción y Apoyo a Personas Trans (Foundation Group for Action and Support to Trans People, GAAT). The research serves of participant methodologies (participant observation, interviews, life trajectoires, photographic essay) to understand the way in which making a gender transitioning process has affected their lives, in the familial, educational and work aspects. The transitioning affects their possibilities of life, education, work, access to rights as well as their right and possibility to space mobility within the city. Furthermore, there is a series of legitimized violences toward trans people, also restricting their possibilities. This work does the analysis to propose a manner of understanding trans life experiences that privileges the perspective on the social construction of sex and gender and de-exotizes these experiences, with the final goal of contribute to the comprehension and sensibilization toward those subjects.
