abstract

  • Introduction: The definition that the WHO establishes the concept of health includes a well-being that goes beyond the physical and contemplates mental health as part of the integral well-being and, due to the vulnerability that the adolescent's life cycle presents, it is necessary to implement actions that favor the approach of their emotional regulation due to the figures that this age group presents in issues of anxiety and depression. Objective: Develop the mental health protocol and route that, despite the scope as a higher education institution, allows the consolidation of an ecosystem of care and support for those people who present difficulties in this area. Methodology: A benchmarking is carried out with different universities in the country that establishes basic guidelines that are submitted to the interdisciplinary technical table to build the mental health route based on a care protocol that was endorsed by internal and external review by a professional in the area. Results: It is evidenced by higher education institutions a repeated referral to EPS and expert entities in mental health that reflects the need to build strategies and care routes that favor comprehensive care for the student's mental health that encompasses two strategies, one prevention that seeks to minimize risk behaviors and the other intervention to address specific cases. Conclusions: Taking into account the emotional vulnerability that adolescents present due to the changes that their life cycle brings, it is essential to implement actions from higher education institutions and their comprehensive education model that allows establishing the basic guidelines to attend and accompany the mental health problems and thereby contribute to the academic and personal development of the student.
