Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, and its prevalence continues increasing both in Colombia and in the world. The main purpose of this study was to explore if the attitudes towards Alzheimer disease varies according to gender and age of 450 Colombian adults. An exploratory cross-sectional study was made, in which a self-response survey was applied. The results show that in fact there are some differences in the cognitive (believes and knowledge) and behavioral (behavioral intention and behavior) components, according to age and gender, as well as difference in the affective component according to gender. It was concluded that knowledge about Alzheimer’s disease is very limited, that sadness is the most predominant emotion towards Alzheimer’s disease and that is a theme of interest in which the ideas that this disease affects specially memory are predominant. The results were discussed, taking into account that this is only an initial approximation about attitudes towards Alzheimer disease.
