Las empresas energéticas y la gran estrategia estadounidense hacia Irak : una reflexión sobre el rol de Exxon Mobil y Chevron como grupos económicos y de presión (2001- 2011)
Thesis
This monograph attempts to explain the role played by Exxon Mobil and Chevron in the formulation of the Bush government’s Grand Strategy towards Iraq. Especially, it argues that the two aforementioned multinational companies made that military intervention in Iraq was conceived as a main objective of the Bush administration’s energy policy. To achieve this goal, Chevron and Exxon mostly took advantage of its position in the US national economy. In fact, they succeeded in concluding long-term major contracts for crude oil and gas extraction in Iraq. Building on a documentary analysis, these companies are analyzed as business sector lobbying groups and economic groups, whose profits derived from the Iraq invasion, can be even found during the Obama government years.
