abstract

  • This article analyzes how the information is relocated in the media under the context of the technological and social changes that have occurred in the Colombian journalism, by using a study case of violence against woman: the case of Maria Camila Sanchez who was sexual harassed while riding the Transmilenio in July 2014. This work seeks to present a new perspective about the theme and advance in the research regarding the information handle by the social networks and how it can reach a privileged place in the national communication media. Facebook and Twitter are some of the most important social networks that are used by Colombian people. According to The National Administrative and Statistic Department (DANE, 2014), 63, 8% 2 of the internet users from Colombia access this device by using one of these social networks. Under this context, the case from Maria Camila Sanchez helps us to analyze the relationship between the use of social networks and the construction of the media agenda, using the agenda setting theory developed by Maxwell McCombs.
