abstract

  • This thesis seeks to analyze the behavior of the Chilean and Mexican economies during the global economic crisis (2008-2010), to estimate the level of economic dependence they presented, which was determined by their patterns of trade and trading partners. From the above, the research proposes as objectives: to describe the main characteristics of the Chilean and Mexican economies and identify the factors in these economies that channeled the negative effects of the global economic crisis of 2008, to analyze the effects that variations on selected parameters (exports and FDI) brought on the balance of payments in Chile and Mexico during the crisis years (2008-2010) to determine their vulnerability, and to compare the results to estimate the level of dependence shown by Chile and Mexico.
