abstract

  • The objective of this study was to describe the intra-occupational psychosocial risks of the nursing staff in a hospital institution with a special third-level regime and to observe whether these are related to absenteeism in the different dependencies of the institution. The interest in studying this phenomenon in health entities with a special regime is due to the fact that studies on absenteeism and psychosocial risks in this type of organizations are scarce in the country and its effects have important implications at the social level, not only for the care of patients. patients but for the well-being of health workers. For this, a descriptive, correlational cross-sectional study was carried out, using the psychosocial risk battery developed by the Ministry of Social Protection and a questionnaire developed to estimate the level of absenteeism of care workers. 144 workers from the nursing area participated in the study, including head nurses and auxiliary nurses. According to the results, professional nurses have higher levels of intra-occupational psychosocial risk than auxiliary nurses and have higher levels of absenteeism. On the other hand, work absenteeism was significantly correlated with intra-work psychosocial risks only for professional nurses in dimensions associated with social relationships, performance feedback, control, autonomy over work and rewards. The implications of these findings are discussed.
