abstract

  • Musculoskeletal disorders have a high impact on the health of workers due to their high prevalence, in addition to affecting the viability of companies. Objective: To determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms and their association with individual, biomechanical, organizational, and psychosocial factors linked to working conditions in workers in the logistics and administration area of a consumer products marketer during 2022 in Bogotá. Methodology: An observational, cross-sectional study with an analytical component was conducted. 74 workers participated to whom a questionnaire was completed in person, through a guided interview and in digital format, which collected selected questions from the Nordic and Ergopar questionnaires. In the statistical analysis, the measures of central tendency and dispersion were obtained and associations between the different variables were sought. Results: The prevalence of cervicobrachial symptoms was 63.5%, thoracolumbar 68.9% and lower limbs 44.6%. The associated psychosocial risk factor was job dissatisfaction (p= 0.04). Regarding organizational risk factors, the type of contract was associated with cervicobrachial symptoms (p= 0.034), while the working day was associated with thoracolumbar symptoms (p= 0.018). Regarding biomechanical factors, manually pushing and/or pulling loads was associated with cervicobrachial symptoms (p= 0.05). Conclusions: The prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms in a consumer products marketer is high. An association of risk factors for job dissatisfaction, type of contract, working hours and manual handling of loads such as pushing and/or pulling loads, with the presence of musculoskeletal symptoms in workers, was found. It is important to implement health promotion and prevention measures that reduce or, where possible, eliminate risk factors that may affect the health and quality of life of workers
