abstract

  • BACKGROUND: Domestic job is a work activity and who performs must have minimum conditions that contribute to ensure safety at work, meaning that their work does not affect their health or quality of life. Domestic workers carry out various tasks, including: cleaning, taking care of children and the elderly, cooking, washing, ironing, among other household chores. These labours can lead to work injuries (burns, poisonings, blunt trauma and contusions). In Bogotá there no studies were found that inquire about the occurrence of work accidents in domestic service providers, the need arose to conduct research on this issue by identifying factors associated with the presentation of work accidents in a group of domestic workers in the city of Bogotá. OBJECTIVE: To identify the socio-demographic and occupational factors risk associated with work accidents in a group of domestic employees in the city of Bogotá, during 2019METHODS: A quantitative study was carried out, cross-sectional study, of analytical prevalence. A survey was applied to group of domestic workers. For the statistical analysis, measures of central tendency and dispersion were obtained and the variables included in the study were related in search of associations. RESULTS: The sample size was 42 workers, All participants were women, Most frequent accidents identified were: cuts (28. 5%), blows (19. 1%) and burns (14. 3%). No difference was found between the occurrence of these accidents and the time worked, nor found difference between exposure to physical, chemical, biological risks and use of personal protective elements with the occurrence of accidents at work. There is no difference between the work they perform and the occurrence of occupational accidents. CONCLUSION: There was no scientific evidence that can support that the sociodemographic factors and occupational hazards studied may be related to the occurrence of accidents at work, this may be mainly due to the sample size
