abstract

  • Business models have been traditionally explored within the discipline of Business Management, with a unique look of formal businesses. However, the world of economy is not only made of the organizations that comply with all the regulations. Therefore, this research sought to apply the notion of business model in the context of informal economy. Through a qualitative study, a case study was realized with ethnographic approach to two street vendors in Bogota. The categories of analysis came from the Canvas model, as well as the upper echelons perspective and sociology of the experience. Based on the results, it was demonstrated that the participants structure their business model and make decisions permeated by their personal characteristics and their life experiences.
