  • The present investigation has as a general objective to study the perceptions of local entrepreneurs in the gastronomic sector about the impact of community tourism in the economic, social and environmental sector in the department of La Guajira, specifically in Riohacha. From the methodological conception, the present study has a qualitative approach of a descriptive type, for the field work ten (10) entrepreneurs from the gastronomic sector were selected with whom an interview was initiated to collect information that was later analyzed through the Nvivo software. The results allow us to visualize that the entrepreneurs of the sector constitute the importance of community tourism and the gastronomic sector in the promotion and claim of the empowerment of the communities and culinary tradition, they also recognize that tourism is an alternative for local development through the achievement of economic, social and environmental benefits that transcend the communities themselves. It is concluded that entrepreneurs of gastronomic services with community tourism initiatives offer services and products that allow the attraction of visitors and an intervention proposal is required that allows taking advantage of the cultural and gastronomic wealth available to the district of Riohacha - La Guajira to respond to the needs of the tourist market that is interested in this type of community tourism characteristics.
