  • This article focuses on the historical evolution of the Usaquén locality, from the time when it was occupied by indigenous people until current times; describing the most significant events that had an impact on this sector of the city, as well as its historical center. Likewise, it aims to determine how the center of Usaquén has become a stage for significant urban transformations from the nineties to the year of 2020, where the implementation of a neoliberal model, the liberty of land trading and globalization are interconnected, stimulating national and foreign capital investment, leading the locality towards the gentrification of the capital, that has affected some residents of the sector who, through their testimonies, expose how they were forced to relocate to neighborhoods at the outskirts of Usaquén, and, in a lower percentage, to remain there, as active witnesses of the tensions derived from these social, economic and urban transformations.
