abstract

  • The information and genetic data now emanating from the human genome research demands the development of software tools capable of processing the huge amount of information available. Most genetic data is the result of teams conducting simultaneous analysis of hundreds or thousands of polymorphisms or genetic variations, new laboratory techniques for higher performance, together, provide greater availability of information in a short space time. This problem leads to the need to develop new software tools able to cope with this increased volume of genetic data. In the case of population genetics, although there are tools that can facilitate processing and data analysis, these have limitations such as lack of knowledge of users of some programming languages to feed information and other tools computer estimates do not perform all required and others have limitations on the amount of data that can be incorporated or operate. In some cases there is redundancy in having to use two or more tools to process a data set of genetic information. This work aims at developing a tool based on common computer applications, in this case Microsoft Excel ® and resolving all problems and limitations described above. The development of all subprograms that constitute Lustro, can overcome this, presenting the results at a simple, familiar and easy to operate, thus simplifying the process of adapting the program user, without prior training, resulting in short time processing of genetic information of interest.
