The aim of this study was to identify trends in the investigation of childhood depression by a bibliometric analysis of published articles between January 2010 and January 2015 on bases EBSCO, Scopus and Scielo data; 146 articles written in English, Spanish and Portuguese were included. The most productive authors and the authors trends with regard to sex, profession and production; countries, institutions and magazines with the highest number of publications about such disorder are identified. Age and anxiety are the variables that are most frequently associated with the topic; likewise, the Children Depression Inventory (CDI) was identified as the most common instrument for measuring depression in children. Within this period stand items focused on research about people with different health conditions, correlational and cross-sectional data, and written by multiple authors. The analysis of the results shows an increasing interest and concern of the researchers to investigate the frequency of the state of mind disorders and more specifically in children depression, and the association and influence that this disorder may have in their development.
