abstract

  • In order to measure the impact that the program created by the foundation The Mathilde Institute in Guatemala has had from 2012 to 2019 with the creation of a nutritional formula called Chispuditos, a descriptive study of the evolution of the Mass Index was carried out. Corporal for children operated between 1 year and 5 years of age. A sample of 6892 children who had participated in the program was taken, from these a subsample was taken of those who had had a control 3 or 4 months after the initial intake, 8 or 9 months and 12 or 13 months from the initial shot. Based on this, the trend was evaluated by means of confidence intervals towards the 50th percentile of the BMI control table of the World Health Organization, after this based on the average income for the urban and rural population of Guatemala, a simple regression was used to measure the relationship of the change in the child's BMI with respect to income. The results showed how as the time of consumption of the formula increases, the weight of the children adjusts to the normal level and at the moment in which their weight is regulated, it begins to have a positive relationship with the income variable, which shows that In the long term, the adequate nutritional status of the child will translate into an improvement in their quality of life.
