She holds an MD from the Universidad del Rosario, a MPH specializing in family and community health from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in maternal and child health from the University of Maryland. She is a full-time professor at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Universidad del Rosario in Bogota, Colombia. She is the director of the Master of Public Health program and co-director of the Doctoral Program in Clinical Research at the university. She has extensive experience working with vulnerable populations and developing health programs worldwide with a special focus on Indigenous Health. She is currently working on a program to improve health and food security for indigenous communities in the Colombian Amazon rainforest. She is a senior researcher at the Colombian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. She has published more than 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
